Live empty legs to and from Austin’s three business-aviation airports: Austin-Bergstrom, Austin Executive and San Marcos. Search your dates, or request a confirmed quote.

Set an alert and we’ll email you the moment one appears. Around 95% of legs don’t match a first search — they come and go daily, so watching a route is how most people actually fly one.
Flying both ways? Book any leg and we’ll find or pair your return — plus transfers, catering, pets in the cabin and the full itinerary, handled end to end.
Most legs into Austin are short Texas repositioning flights, with others from further west and north.
An empty leg is a private jet flight the operator has to make with no passengers, usually to get back to base or to its next booking. Because the aircraft is flying anyway, it is offered for up to 75% less than chartering the same jet in the usual way. Call it private jet hire, private jet rental or charter: on an empty leg the route and timing are fixed, and the lower price is the reward. If you are looking for a private jet in Austin, the board above shows every live leg touching the city’s three business-aviation airports.
Austin-Bergstrom (AUS) is the main one, with three private terminals (FBOs). Austin Executive (EDC), north-east of the city, is the business-aviation field. San Marcos (HYI), to the south, takes overflow, especially on big event weekends. Where your empty leg lands is set by the operator, so it helps to know what each offers.
Distances come from airport directories, not road maps. Drive times depend on traffic, and your FBO can arrange a car to meet the aircraft.

About 5 miles south-east of the city, Austin-Bergstrom has a 12,250 ft runway, so any business jet can use it, and three FBOs: Atlantic Aviation, Signature and Million Air. Private passengers use the FBOs on Emma Browning Avenue, not the airline terminal. Customs can be arranged for international arrivals with at least three hours’ notice in weekday office hours, and for a weekend arrival it is worth calling on the Friday. It is not an airport of entry, so ask your operator to confirm before you plan an international trip around it. Our guide to private terminals (FBOs) explains what to expect on the ramp.
About 12 miles north-east of the city, with a 6,025 ft runway and one FBO, Henriksen Jet Center. It suits light and midsize jets and trips to the northern suburbs. There is no customs, so flights here are domestic.
Roughly 30 miles south of Austin, about a 35-minute drive in normal traffic, with three runways, the longest 6,330 ft. It is a quieter field, used when Austin fills up on race weekends, and handy for the southern Hill Country. There is no customs. Ask your operator which FBO your aircraft will use.
With an empty leg, whichever airport the operator has listed. When you are choosing between two legs, or pricing a full charter, a few rules of thumb help.
Your FBO can arrange a car to meet the aircraft, so the transfer starts on the ramp.
Mostly within Texas. Austin’s legs are often repositioning flights in the Texas triangle: aircraft based in Houston or Dallas that dropped passengers in Austin and are heading home, or the reverse. These are short hops, often an hour or less, so they tend to be among the cheaper legs on the board.
The airports at the other end are covered in private jet hire Houston and private jet hire Dallas, and the wider picture is in empty legs across Texas.
Beyond Texas, legs also appear at places such as Las Vegas, Scottsdale, Denver and Chicago. Austin is a smaller board than Houston or Dallas, so check it often and set a route alert.
For the bigger picture, our guide to empty leg flights in the USA explains where legs tend to appear across the country.
An empty leg is priced for the whole aircraft, not per seat. Share it with the people you are flying with and the cost per person falls with every seat you fill. The listed price is set by the operator and moves as the departure date gets closer, and every price on the board follows the currency picker, so you can compare in dollars, pounds or euros.
A full charter costs more because you pay for the aircraft to reach you as well as for your flight. That is the gap an empty leg closes, and why it can cost up to 75% less. For hourly rates by aircraft class, see cheap private jet hire. For what legs typically sell for and how much you actually save, see empty leg flight cost.
If there is no leg on your dates, the “Didn’t find your leg?” tool below prices a full charter on your route in seconds, so you can compare the two.
Empty legs follow where aircraft have been, so supply moves with demand elsewhere. Austin has two main patterns.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix in November pulls Texas aircraft west in a similar way.
Most legs are listed days rather than weeks ahead, so the people who get them are usually the ones with an alert set. Our guide on how to find empty legs explains why a route alert beats checking the board each morning.
Plans change: an operator can cancel or move a leg if the aircraft is needed elsewhere. It is worth reading what happens if an empty leg is cancelled or delayed before you build a trip around one, especially in a busy week.
