Coachella runs over two weekends at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California: 9 to 11 April and 16 to 18 April. For private flyers it is two peaks a week apart, and the airport choice is simple. Jacqueline Cochran Regional in Thermal is the jet airport closest to the festival, with an 8,500-foot runway and three FBOs. Palm Springs International, further up the valley, adds airline flights and on-site customs. Below: which to choose, how the ramps work across two weekends, the helicopter option from Los Angeles, and what it costs. Dates are as announced by the festival; check the official calendar before you book.
Live empty legs into Thermal and Palm Springs across both festival weekends. Most are short hops from Los Angeles and the Bay Area, plus transcontinental legs from New York. The gap between the two weekends is a good time to look, as jets that dropped off for weekend one head home.
Set an alert and we’ll email you the moment one appears. Around 95% of legs don’t match a first search — they come and go daily, so watching a route is how most people actually fly one.
Flying both ways? Book any leg and we’ll find or pair your return — plus transfers, catering, pets in the cabin and the full itinerary, handled end to end.
Coachella is a West Coast movement first. Los Angeles and San Francisco supply most of the traffic, with New York, Las Vegas and Texas behind them.
Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport in Thermal (TRM) is the closest jet airport to Coachella, about 12 minutes’ drive from the Empire Polo Club. Owned by Riverside County, it has an 8,500-foot main runway, long enough for heavy jets, and three FBO operators on the field. Palm Springs International (PSP), about ten flying minutes away, has a 10,000-foot runway, two FBOs and US Customs on site, which matters if you are flying in from outside the US.
| Airport | Code | Runway | FBOs and notes |

We found no FAA reservation programme for Coachella of the kind used at the Super Bowl or the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Parking is managed by each FBO, and the ramps at Thermal are busiest on the Thursday and Friday arrivals and the Sunday and Monday departures of each weekend. Reserve parking with the FBO when you book the aircraft, and ask whether any event fees apply; our guide to hidden fees covers what to check. Riverside County’s own transient parking rates are modest, but FBO handling and ramp fees are set separately by each operator.
If you are staying for both weekends, decide early whether the jet waits in the valley or flies home and comes back. A jet that repositions out between weekends creates exactly the kind of empty leg that a route alert can catch, in both directions. Check FAA NOTAMs for any temporary flight restrictions around the festival before you fly.
Fly into Thermal with FBO parking confirmed, then it’s a short drive to the Empire Polo Club. If you are coming from abroad, clear customs at Palm Springs or your US gateway first. Arrive on Thursday to beat the Friday rush, and leave on Monday morning rather than straight after the Sunday headliner.
Yes. In previous festival seasons Blade ran helicopter and plane shuttles from Santa Monica Airport to a lounge at Thermal, describing a flight of about 40 minutes that replaces a drive of up to five hours at peak times. Whether a shuttle or a private helicopter runs in a given year, and at what price, is confirmed on enquiry. For a group of four to six, compare a private helicopter against a light jet from Van Nuys into Thermal: the jet carries more luggage, and the live quote shows which costs less for your dates. Our helicopter vs private jet guide walks through the trade-off.
Festival weekends price like other US peak events, typically 15–30% above a normal week; see why private jet prices rise in event weeks. The live figure for your route is confirmed on enquiry; the estimator below gives an indicative range for the whole aircraft.
